On board the 'Åland I'. William commanded there for many years. William was the son of Katrina and Abraham on Erkas, sister Viktoria Rosenqvist, Jervis, brother Alvin, married to Galtby, Valter studied to be a teacher, Anton was an agricultural inspector and Viktor, who became a farmer on Erkas. Olga, William's wife, was born in Jomala Ytterby, Åland, daughter of shipowner Karl-August Mattsson. At Christmas 1905, both of his ships were wrecked. William was offered jobs on these ships when he came to propose in the spring. William declined, no one survived the sinkings.
