Description
John Segerqvist graduated from the Turku Navigation School in 1941 as second mate and was immediately appointed second mate on the S/S Marta of Nagu, which was commanded by John's cousin Uno Bergman from Björkö, who had then graduated as first mate.
S/S Marta was an old rust bucket built in 1862, owned by Rudolf Jonsson from Lillandet in Nagu, Ramsdal.
