People

August Berndt Westerlund, Axel Alexej Westerlund

Description

These brothers made probably the most exciting trip any Houtskär resident has ever made. They traveled to the Seward Peninsula in Alaska around the turn of the century 1900 and dug gold. After returning home, they each built an "America" house, one in Träsk and the other in Näsby.
Pictures from their trip can be found here in the archive.
