Suoma Thurman, b. 20.08.1870, Rimito, d. 26.02.1953, Helsinki. Moved to Houtskär on 12.10.1895 and took up the position of postal clerk in Houtskär. She first lived in the old post office at Vitteludd, roughly where the road down to the teacher's house ("Backman's") now runs. Remains of the stone base can still be seen. Later she moved to her own house, which also housed the post office. The house was later sold to merchant Adolf Österman, who enlarged it and opened a shop there. Suoma Thurman was involved in starting the "Young People's Christian Association" in Houtskär. She lived in Houtskär for over 35 years, moving to Helsinki in the late 1920s.
