Description

The picture is taken so that the so-called extension is visible closest to the camera. The frame of the building was moved in 1924-1925 from Uppgårds in Nåtö. "Timmran" was erected with the help of Artur Engholm, from Engholm in Saverkeit. The extension came much later on the initiative of Georg, who wanted a "hall" and an attic room for Signe Åkerberg, Zaida's sister, who lived with the family on Halsö. Signe's room was completed, but not the extension. When the colonization authorities, in connection with the "Karelian population transfer", intended to expropriate Halsö with buildings for a fishing farm for Karelians, Volmar Åkerberg, who then owned Halsö, tore the walls out of the "hall". Since then it has stood as it does in 1995.
