Born in Lemland, Åland, Eriksson became the last great sailing ship owner in the world.
Herzogin Cecilie was a four-masted barque.

Miscellaneous

At that time, it was mandatory to have sailboat practice in order to gain entry to the navigation schools, two years of practice was required.
G-E took advantage of this.
Foreigners had to pay for themselves to be signed on board his ships.
