Pulling up the winter seine. The seine is pulled up from the opening; the thick hemp ropes are coiled for easy handling. When these coarse hemp ropes were frozen, they could easily snap, so they were rolled up into large coils, which were then loaded onto sleds and moved in several trips. Here you can also see the ice picks, the hook, the yoke, and the shovels. Sometimes a lot of people come to watch when the weather is nice. Also note the skis made by Esko Järvinen with bamboo poles stuck into the snow.
