Description

The vessel won the Grain Race four times. The first time it happened was in 1934, when the journey from Wallaroo to Lizard was sailed in 106 days (February 17 - June 3, 1934).

In October 1935, en route from Copenhagen to Port Victoria, the four-masted barge ran into a heavy storm in the north of Scotland, causing the ballast to shift. The crew had to use knives to cut the ropes of the upper sails (topsails) so that the ship would not capsize. At the same time, ballast had to be moved below deck to get the ship back on the keel. In the Indian Ocean, the ship sailed at its best 332 nautical miles and at another time 330 nautical miles during 24 hours. That makes the average speed 13.8 knots. The trip was sailed from 5 October 1935 to 5 January 1936.

In 1936, the four-masted schooner sailed a 4,614-ton cargo of wheat from Port Victoria to Queenstown in 86 days, losing to Herzog's Cecilie by only a few hours. The trip was sailed on 12.2. - 8 May 1936.

In 1937, it took 94 days to travel from Port Victoria to Falmouth with a 4,300-ton wheat cargo, and in 1938, the same trip was made in 98 days with a 4,638-ton wheat cargo.
