After his agricultural training, Tor applied to the United Nations in Cyprus where he worked for ?? years. Back home, he started the company Finnhouse and began to build cottages for rent. Log- and elementhouses were built on the homestead's barn attic and then transported by their own barge for installation in Turku and Åland´s archipelago. When the demand for small houses decreased, Finnhouse was terminated, instead Tor began with something completely new, namely fish farming in net bags and salmon farming which they had started in Norway. The company Shanfisch rented water areas from the partners for cultivation and they built productionhouses, slaughterhouses, refrigeration- and freezer houses. The company was a major employer and at best they had about 30 employees mostly during the slaughter time in the autumn.
But as always there are problems, permits for fish farming have been tightened, so Tor sold the company, but fish are still farmed and gutted in the same buildings.
