Maria was the daughter of Maria Henrietta and Daniel Söderlund who lived on Utö. Daniel became a widower 20.2.1888 with five children. He remarried Axa on 2.6.1889. The family got one more child and moved to Kivimo in 1894. Daniel drowned on weak ice between Utö and Jurmo 5.1.1899.
