LYNTON 4-masted steel bark. Built 1894, R. & J. Evans & Co, Liverpool. 2,539 gross register tons. 2,531 gross register tons. Owner: Robert Mattson, Mariehamn. Stopped and sunk by German U-48, 21.05.1917, 50 miles SW of Queenstown, 50.57N, 08.23W, on a voyage from Pensacola to Clyde in a timber cargo. Photograph in the possession of Axel Granlund.
